Here's How to Earn Your Hours!
As we all know, UPA requires 60 volunteer hours per year from each
household (in addition to the student requirement of 30 service
hours). How will you accumulate that many hours? The easiest and
most fun way is to become active in PTSO. If you attend the monthly
PTSO general meeting, that time counts, and there are many volunteer
jobs listed on our website. Most of them are fairly easy, and many
can be completed even if you can't take time off from work.
The form for volunteer hours is on our "Forms" page, along with an
explanation of UPA's expectations for student and parent service
hours.
By the way, if you have not yet joined PTSO this school year, please
fill out a membership form and have your student drop it off at the
UPA office. Why join?
- Membership dues help purchase insurance for some activities
- Dues also cover minor administrative expenses
- Occasionally PTSO enables kids to participate in an activity by helping pay the expense, if necessary.
- PTSO is a thrifty organization in comparison to other similar national organizations with higher overhead.
- Membership dues are as low as $1/year, but further donations are appreciated.
- Participating in PTSO is the easiest way to accumulate your 60
hours of volunteer time that you agreed to when you registered your
child.
