PTSO officers:

President:Regina Zamorra
Hello my name is Regina Zamora, PTSO President for the 2009-2010 school year. This is our first year at UPA and we are really enjoying our time here. I have identical twin girls that are in 7th grade. Along with the responsibilities of the PTSO, I also participate in my son's elementary school PTA, am a girl scout leader, and a Cookie Lee Jewelry Consultant. If you have any questions regarding our fabulous PTSO, please contact me at ReginaZ4CookieLee@sbcglobal.net or 408-591-9174. I look forward to meeting you and building a great UPA community!
Vice President:Art Garza
Secretary: Usha Johnson
My name is Usha Johnson and my son is in 10th grade. This is our first year at University Preparatory Academy. I have been involved with the grant committee and the technology committee at Discovery Charter School from where my son graduated in 8th grade. I have a PhD in Economics and am currently focussed on writing a book on Energy and Environment. We are very happy as a family to be part of the UPA community and I personally would like to see the school succeed in all fronts. I am happy to volunteer for the secretary position of PTSO at UPA and join hands with the staff, parents and students to make UPA a successful school.
Treasurer:Dave Holl [Treasurers page]
This is my first year as treasurer of the UPA PTSO. My son, Alex, is in his second year at UPA and is a junior. UPA has been an excellent experience for us and I felt the desire to become more active to further enhance the school's capabilities. When asked to volunteer for treasurer, I knew that my experience and education would make me well prepared for the role. I look forward to helping the PTSO support the students, teachers and UPA overall in achieving their goals this year. I have a Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. I am currently a Vice President for a small, aviation software and services firm in Sunnyvale.
Ways and Means: Janet Hatch-Franklin
Janet Hatch-Franklin - the Ways and Means Committee chairperson for the UPA PTSO. Our family has been committed to UPA since the first school year beginning in 2007. Our daughter, Tara is in 9th grade and we hope she will be part of the Graduating class of 2013, the first class to have attended all 6 years at UPA. I was the 1st PTSO president serving for school years 2007-2008, and 2008-2009. I work full time for the US Government having worked for the government for 27 years. At UPA I've worked towards supporting the school, building community, and creating events that the families and students can look forward to as traditions here at UPA. Last year I was one of the Chaperons for UPA's first 8th grade Washington DC trip, and I am committed to making sure that in the 2010-2011 school year the 11th graders who were not offered a Washington DC trip in their 8th grade year can participate in one. Since becoming a Mom my daughter and I have been members of a Las Madre's group who is still an active group now 15 years later. I have been Camp Fire youth club Leader for 5 years, and a Girl Scout leader for the past 9 years. I currently lead a Girl Scout troop of 12+ Middle and High school age girls. UPA is the best educational venue for our family and we want to see it succeed and become the best school in the San Jose area.
